The Ecumenical Community Food Pantry of Norwood recently announced that it is one of the several area food pantries that will receive food donated at the New England Patriots game on Nov. 18.
The food drive is part of the Patriots Charitable Foundation’s “Celebrate Volunteerism” initiative. Fans and ticket holders have been asked to bring bags, cans, and boxes of non-perishable food to the game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Ruth Taeger, executive director of the pantry said she and others are excited at the prospect of having more food for the holiday season.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to receive this kind of wonderful help and support from our favorite team,” Taeger said in a statement.
Ticket holders should drop off donations at collection bins set up at the Patriot Place gate on game day. Anyone planning on watching the game at home but interested in making a donation should do so anytime the week before the game at the bins in the Patriots corporate office or the pro shop.
Items especially needed this time of year include the following:
- Canned fruit and vegetables
- Tuna, meats, and stews
- Baked beans and chili
- Juice and juice boxes
- Peanut butter and jelly
- Packaged dinners
- Pasta and pasta sauce
- Cake and brownie mixes
- Baby mixes
