Norwood police arrested a Somerville man and a Norwood man on crack cocaine charges Tuesday following a month-long investigation.

Angel Rosa, a Guatemalan resident illegally living in Somerville, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, second offense, and conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, police said.

George J. McAuley, of Norwood, was charged with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act, marijuana possession, and unlawful possession of prescription medication.

According to police, during the investigation, detectives confirmed that Rosa was driving to McAuley’s home in Norwood every week to make and package crack cocaine.

Rosa allegedly supplied the drugs and McAuley would sell it to local buyers, police said.

Police found 16 bags crack cocaine valued at $720, along with a scale, drug packaging, and $725 cash at McAuley's home on Adams Street.

According to police, Rosa first gave a false name but police discovered his identity after his fingerprints were electronically transmitted to the Automated Fingerprint Identification System.

The Norfolk County Police Anti-Crime Task Force assisted in the investigation and subsequent arrests.
