On Thursday, August 29, Friendly’s on Providence Highway will unveil a completely refreshed appearance and updated menu to the public. The restaurant, which originally opened its doors in 1980, is one of the first locations to take part in the company’s ongoing initiative to re-position the brand and bring it back to its roots by recreating the iconic Friendly’s dining and ice cream experience. The Friendly’s team is excited to introduce guests to a redesigned menu that features new dishes like the Slinky Dog as well as improvements on classics like the Fishamajig. In addition, the refurbished restaurants boast updated interiors and exteriors that evoke a timeless appearance that’s both bright and cheery.

The celebration will kick-off with the one-hour distribution of free sundae cups to the general public in attendance at the event. Immediately following will be a visit from recently-appointed Friendly’s President and CEO John Maguire, Norwood Selectman Paul Bishop, and Josh Kraft, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, who will celebrate the restaurant’s re-launch by serving guests the location’s first official scoop of ice cream. From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., children can also request a free creation from the balloon artist and face painter. In addition, Friendly’s will continue the celebration through Wednesday, September 11, by offering $1.00 Happy Ending sundaes to guests.

Friendly’s will also be donating $1 from every ice cream dessert sold to the Boys & Girls Club of Boston through Wednesday, September 4. Guests are encouraged to visit the restaurant during the week and create new Friendly’s memories while supporting a great local cause that benefits the community’s youth.
