North Shore Bank helps homeless children
The following is a press release from North Shore Bank:
North Shore Bank is pleased to once again announce that it will be participating in a very special project to help collect school supplies for homeless children on the North Shore. School on Wheels Massachusetts is an organization that educates children impacted by homelessness by providing academic support and one-on-one mentoring so children can reach their full potential.
According to School on Wheels Massachusetts, the average age of a person experiencing homelessness in Massachusetts is 8 years old. And, there are 48, 000 children experiencing homelessness enrolled in Massachusetts Public Schools.
The Bank is asking the community to provide academic consistency and hope to these children by donating back packs and new school supplies to the program. North Shore Bank's eight branch locations are being designated as drop off areas for donations. Contributions from the community will be collected in special bins at each of the bank's branch offices through Sept. 17.
Dave LaFlamme, North Shore Bank's president and chief executive officer said, "This is what being a community bank is all about, helping your neighbors during tough times. I'm thankful to our customers and employees for stepping up to help those children in our community who are having difficulties in their everyday lives."
Dina Dressler, North Shore regional director for School on Wheels Massachusetts said, "We couldn't do this without the generosity of the community and the wonderful support of the North Shore Bank. THere is nothing like seeing the smile on a child's face when the go to school with their brand new back pack and school supplies."
