A Peabody woman found more than toys while shopping at a Toys ‘R Us at the Northshore Mall.

On Wednesday evening, Kathleen Diabella of Peabody came into the lobby of the Peabody police station at about 5:41 and told police she found a diamond ring in the toy store’s bathroom, according to Detective Peter Olson, a spokesman for the Peabody Police Department.

Diabella told police she inquired at the store if anyone had lost a ring and an announcement was made over the speaker, Olson said.

“Nobody claimed the ring and the good samaritan brought the ring to the police station,” Olson said in an email statement.

About an hour later, a woman called police and reported losing a ring, the officer who received the call told her the ring was found, Olson said.

The ring is being held in evidence at the Peabody Police Department until the owner picks it up, Olson said.

The value of the ring wasn’t immediately clear.
