Peabody schools remain closed and a parking ban is still in effect today in the wake of a nor'easter that accumulated an estimated 20 inches of snow.
Snowplows and sanders treated roads from about 2 a.m. Wednesday until about 11 last night, said Robert Langley, Peabody's Director of Public Services. While unaware of the official number, Langley estimated accumulation to be 20 inches.
"We got hit pretty hard," Langley said.
Langley also noted a few scattered power outages occurred yesterday.
100,000 customers across Massachusetts were without power at the height of the storm according to state officials.
Snow removal crews were back on the roads early this morning and will probably follow up throughout today and tomorrow Langley said.
"Most of the roads are passable and clear by now," Langley said. However, he warned motorists to drive carefully.
"Definitely on secondary roads they still have some secondary snow and ice on them... in this type of weather you need to proceed with caution," Langley said.
