The name of a 63-year-old woman who died yesterday morning after being struck by a pickup truck in downtown Peabody was released by police.

Maria Assuncao of 95 Main St. was hit by a pickup truck while crossing Main Street at 6:25 a.m., according to Police Captain Dennis Bonaiuto , who added that an ambulance in the vicinity responded to the scene and took the victim to Salem Hospital.

As of yesterday the driver, Mark Ouellette, 47, of Salem, was not charged with a crime. Bonaiuto said Peabody police, along with the State Police’s accident reconstruction team were still investigating.

Bonaiuto said Ouellette remained on the scene after the accident and cooperated with investigators.
