Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt has announced the second in a series of volunteer community cleanup efforts on Saturday, Oct. 13, as part of his "Peabody Pride in Motion" campaign.

After the success of the inaugural citywide cleanup event in May, which was in the vain of former Mayor Peter Torigian's "Pride in Peabody" initiative, Bettencourt is optimistic that Peabody residents will answer the bell to spruce up the downtown area.

"Last spring we had over 300 people come out and help improve the city they love," Bettencourt said in a statement. "I think we can double that number this time around and really make a huge difference in terms of the face Peabody shows to the rest of the region."

Anyone interested in volunteering should arrive at City Hall at 9 a.m. on cleanup day and pick up supplies, then head out to targeted areas throughout the city. A pizza lunch will be served to all volunteers at the Leather City Common at 11:30 a.m.
