Peabody Mayor Ted Bettencourt has announced the city's plans for the annual Holiday Concert weekend featuring the Hillyer Festival Orchestra.

A spokesperson for Bettencourt released the following statement surrounding the two-night show, which will be held at City Hall on the first two days of December:

The Peabody Concert Committee is pleased to welcome back Dr. Dirk Hillyer and the Hillyer Festival Orchestra. They will entertain us with the wonderful music of the season, and we feel most fortunate to announce they will be joined by Ms. Renese King and Mr. Peter Adams.

For those of you who have been with us for previous concerts, these two fabulous singers need no introduction, and for those of you who may be attending for the first time, you are in for quite a treat!

The Peabody High Chorale, directed by Jon Simmons, will also join in the festivities, which kick off with a dinner catered by Vinwood Caterers at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 1. Doors open at 6:45, and the show begins at 8.

On Sunday, dinner is served at 5 p.m., with the show following at 6. Doors open at 4:45. Coffee and dessert will be served during intermission, and a cash bar will be available.

Tickets are $25 for a balcony chair seat, $40 for balcony table seat and $45 for an orchestra table seat.

First-come, first-served. Tickets will not be available at the door, and are only available through the mayor's office at 978-538-5704.

The Hillyer Festival Orchestra was founded in 1998 by then-Peabody Mayor Peter Torrigian. The Orchestra, dedicated to "offering the highest quality classics and 'pops' musical standards in a professional symphony concert format to audiences of all ages," according to its website, was commissioned to perform twice per year in Peabody.

The holiday show has since expanded, to two or three days each year, and the HFO also performs a Children's Concert in February, a Summer Concert on the common and at other special events throughout the city.
