Mayor Ted Bettencourt has announced plans to provide transportation for any of Peabody's senior citizens who wish to pay respects to late state Rep.Joyce Spiliotis, who passed away on Thursday at age 65.

A shuttle van will provide transportation from the Peabody Council on Aging at the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center to Spiliotis' wake at the O'Donnell Funeral Home in Salem beginning at 1:45 p.m. and running throughout the afternoon. Visiting hours are from 2 to 6 p.m.

For more information on the shuttle service, contact the mayor's office at 978-538-5700.

Spiliotis passed away Thursday morning after a battle with cancer that she successfully kept off of the public radar. She represented the city of Peabody on Beacon Hill for 10 years.
