Peabody police officer Fred Wojick is being charged with six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, plus a single charge of disseminating obscene material to a minor, according to a spokeswoman in the Essex County District Attorney's office.

Carrie Kimball-Monahan confirmed this morning that Wojick was arrested last night around 7 p.m. by state police, and will be arraigned today in Peabody District Court. She would not comment any further.

Police Chief Robert L. Champagne was not immediately available for comment.
