The Peabody Chamber of Commerce is continuing 2013 on a healthy note with its ninth annual Health and Wellness Expo, which aims to introduce locals to medical resources that are right at their fingertips.

The free event will be held at the Northshore Mall on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Over 45 exhibitors and local companies will be setting up booths and tables starting at the food court and winding all the way down to Macy’s. Members and organizations on the North Shore, including the Lahey Clinic, Beverly Hospital, and North Shore Medical Center, are sponsoring the event.

“Quite often today families are stressed and caught in between the sandwich generation if you will and sometimes you don’t know what products and services are available until you need them,” said Deanne Healey, president and CEO of the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce. “That’s what the message is all about: how to take care of yourself and how to incorporate things into your life that will help you live healthier and longer.”

Local hospitals will be giving out free product samples and giving free screenings, including blood pressure and vision checkups. Specialists will be offering massages, chiropractors will be giving free consultations, and dentists will be talking about new services available to the area.

In addition, Healey said, there will be local YMCA staff talking about various programs they offer, including swimming and after school programs.

“We’re doing this so residents are aware of the resources that are available to them on the North Shore,” Heaney said. “So that people take care of themselves and engage in a healthy lifestyle and be the healthiest they can be in 2013.”
