Peabody police investigating Washington Street shooting

Peabody Police are investigating what was called in as a possible stabbing that happened on Washington Street on Thursday night.

At approximately 11 p.m., Peabody patrol officers responded to a call at apartment 5 on 45 Washington St. When officers arrived at the scene, an 18-year-old male Peabody resident was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a statement from Detective Michael Crane.

The victim was transported to Salem Hospital and treated for his wounds.

A joint investigation is currently being conducted by Peabody patrol officers, detectives, and State Police detectives assigned to Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office.

According to police, the incident does not appear to be a random act.

No arrests have been made.
