The Peabody Fire Department is hosting its second annual Jim Rice Memorial Softball Tournament in honor of fallen firefighter Jim Rice, who was killed in a three-alarm fire on Hancock Street in 2011.

The event will take place on Saturday August 10 at Marrs Park on Sutton Street in Peabody, with a $300 fee to participate. The event is open to employees from the city's fire and police departments, as well as those from local EMS.

A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament, with a minimum of 10 players. All games will be seven innings long, with trophies going to the first, second and third-place winners.

There will be food and beverages for sale, as well as a Jim Rice softball jersey, and a can coozie. All proceeds from food and clothing will go towards Rice's family.

Each completed roster must be submitted by Saturday August 3 online at www.jimricesoftballtournament.com, or by mail to the Lt. Tracy Collins at the Peabody Fire Department, 41 Lowell Street, Peabody, MA. 01960.
