A seal has been lying on a marsh near Marina Bay since early morning, and there is no telling how long it plans to stay.

“He will leave when he wants to leave,” said Quincy Police Captain John Dougan.

Police said they received about a dozen calls today about the adult harp seal. Police went to the scene at 11 a.m., and rescue workers from the New England Aquarium and the Environmental Police were also on scene to assess the seal’s health.

Dougan said the seal is “fine” and that it has attracted many onlookers.

“It’s more of a curiosity factor,'' Dougan said.
