A man said he was assaulted at 12:45 a.m. this morning in Quincy Center by three males, who got into a fistfight with the victim after allegedly taunting him with racial remarks.

The victim, a 25-year-old man from Quincy, was walking in the City Hall area with headphones on when he was allegedly approached by three white males.

The men made comments with racial overtones to the victim, and the men got into a fistfight, police said.

According to police, the victim reported that one of the men grabbed a box-cutter like apparatus and slashed him in the thigh and cut his hand.

The victim escaped and called his brother, who drove him to Quincy Medical Center.

The hospital called police. When the police arrived, the victim said that he didn’t have a description of the men who assaulted him as it was too dark.

Police went to the area where the man reported the assault. There was no sign of blood or struggle at the scene, police said.
