Quincy police said they confiscated four bags of heroin on Thursday after allegedly witnessing a drug transaction near the Thomas Crane Public Library.

According to police, undercover officers were conducting surveillance on a car on Thursday at 4:20 p.m.

Officers observed the driver go to a house on Palmer Street, pick up a female, and leave. The car went up Palmer Street, took a left on Sea Street, and took a left on State Street, where it parked.

Officers approached the car and identified themselves, asking the pair to step out of the vehicle.

The driver gave officers permission to search his vehicle. Police said that the search found three bags of brown substance believed to be heroin. After the suspect said officers could search him as well, police said they found an additional bag of heroin and $40.

Jesus Nunez, 40, from Weymouth and Judith Desmond, 51, from Quincy were both arrested for possession of class A with intent to distribute.
