Scituate man charged with attempted carjackings in Quincy
A Scituate man was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly attempting to hijack two cars in Quincy.
According to police, the first victim said he was driving a Ford F250 on West Squantum Street near Holmes Street at around 7 p.m. when a man opened his passenger door, got into the car, and demanded a ride.
The victim told the man to get out of his car, however the suspect did not. The victim shut off the engine, took the keys, and got out of the vehicle.
The suspect then moved from the passenger side of the car to the driver’s side, tried to put the vehicle in drive and said “Oh (explitive), this car is shut off!”
According to the victim, the man got out of the car and ran away.
While police were responding to the first call, the suspect then allegedly approached a vehicle with a female driver who had friends in the car.
The suspect came up to the car on Faxon Road, and allegedly tried punching the windows. The driver sped off into the driveway of her friend’s house, when the girls got out of the car, and ran into the house to call police.
The suspect was still on scene when police arrived. He appeared to be under the influence of something, police said.
When police tried to put him in handcuffs, he resisted, kicking officers. He had to be pepper sprayed to be subdued, police said.
Kurt C. Teixeira, 24, from Scituate, was arrested and charged with two counts of carjacking, two counts assault and battery on a police officer, one count assault and batter with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
