Police look for robbery suspect

Quincy police are looking for a suspect believed to have been involved in an unarmed robbery at 9:21 p.m. on Wednesday night.

According to police, a 22-year old woman was walking on Beal Street after getting off the Wollaston T stop. She was talking to her boyfriend on the phone when a man ran up behind her, grabbed her phone, and ran off.

The suspect is described as a 17-20-year-old short, black male wearing a dark, puffy coat.

The victim said the suspect might have been on the T with her and was with a group of other men.

Police are working with the transit authority to view surveillance of the T to help identify the suspect. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Braintree Police.

Homeless men caught stealing copper

Quincy police arrested two homeless men on Thursday after they allegedly were found stealing copper from the closed Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Quincy.

Police said that a detective was sitting in the police station looking out the window when he saw two men around the VFW building, located next to the police station.

According to police, the men were going back and forth to the bushes and putting things inside a blue bag.

Police went outside to confront the men and found a bag loaded with several copper pipes, the lock to the VFW building, and a hacksaw.

Police believe the men had been stealing copper pipes from the building with the intent of later selling them.

As a result, Keith Fitzgerald, 52, and Stephen Cohen, 44, both homeless were arrested and charged with larceny from a building, malicious destruction of property over $250, and possession of burglarious tools.
