Quincy man charged with robbing Weymouth bank
A Quincy man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly robbing the South Shore Savings Bank in Weymouth.

According to Weymouth police, the suspect entered the bank and handed the victim teller a robbery note demanding cash. The suspect additionally told the teller that “this is a stick-up”.

The man allegedly received a large sum of cash from the teller before fleeing.

Quincy officers said they were provided with copies of surveillance photos of the suspect in the robbery, and distributed those photos at several locations around Quincy to see if anyone recognized the suspect.

Quincy police said they soon learned that the suspect allegedly lived at Father Bill’s in Quincy. A search around the area turned up the suspect at Presidents’ City Motel, where he was leaving a cab with a woman.

The woman told police that the suspect had given her $120 to rent a room for the evening, Quincy police said.

Quincy police arrested the suspect, and found $3,000 in his right front pocket.

Police transported the suspect to Weymouth, where he was held without bail over the weekend. Peter D. Stewart, 48, from Quincy, was charged with one count of unarmed robbery. He was arraigned Monday at Quincy District Court.

A Quincy teen was arrested Monday morning after allegedly breaking into several cars in the city.

According to police, officers got a call to Stoughton Street, where two white males were seen in a car. The officers yelled to the two, who instantly fled.

Officers discovered a backpack left in the vehicle. The bag was full of GPS units and other items that appeared to have been stolen, police said.

Officers searched the area and stopped a man on foot around Perry Beach, who fit the description of the suspect.

The suspect was carrying a backpack, which had a stolen car stereo, several GPS units, binoculars, ditigal cameras, loose change, and costume jewelry, police said.

James Lupo, 19, from Quincy was arrested and charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime to a motor vehicle, and receiving stolen property.
