Quincy firefighters rescued an elderly man Tuesday morning after he allegedly flipped his car and became trapped in the vehicle.

Quincy fire officials said that they received the call around 8:58 a.m. on Tuesday of a 88-year-old man trapped in his vehicle at the Stop & Shop at 65 Newport Ave.

Officials said the car went off the road and wound up on its roof in the parking lot.

At 9:03 a.m., fire officials used an extrication tool to remove the man from the vehicle. At 9:20 a.m., the man was transported to Quincy Medical Center. The police did not have details about the man's identity or medical condition.

The incident is still under investigation.
