Man scammed at Marriott
Quincy police are investigating a scam that occurred at the Marriott hotel on Thursday evening.
According to police, the victim was told online that he could buy several pairs of Air Jordan shoes for $800 if he met him at the Marriott hotel in Quincy.
The victim arrived with the money and handed it to the suspect in cash. The man told the victim he would get him the shoes and then disappeared, the victim said.
Police attempted to find the suspect, but could not locate him.
Man arrested after allegedly assaulting cyclist
A Weymouth man was arrested on Thursday after allegedly hitting a bicyclist in the head with a glass bottle.
According to police, the victim was riding on his bike on Hancock Street at 5:36 p.m. when he passed by a woman pushing a baby stroller and the suspect, who was walking with the woman.
As the cyclist drove by, the suspect grabbed him and knocked him off the bike, yelling that he almost hit the stroller, police said.
The victim struggled to get free when the suspect hit him over a head with a bottle.
Police arrived on scene and spoke to several witnesses, who confirmed the story. As a result, Daniel Sullivan, 26, from Weymouth was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Police are searching for a man who allegedly threatened to rob a Quincy resident at gunpoint.
Police said that they received a call from the victim at approximately 7:52 p.m., who said he had gotten off the Wollaston T stop and was walking home when a suspicious man began to follow him.
According to the victim, the suspect was approximately 18 years old, with blue eyes and wearing a white T-shirt, jeans, and a baseball hat.
The victim feared he would be assaulted, so he ran to a nearby house and started banging on the door while calling 911.
The suspect allegedly approached the victim and told him to give him money or he would get a gun. When the victim started talking to police, the suspect allegedly ran away, police said.
Police were unable to locate a suspect with a canine, but corroborated the victim’s story with a witness who heard the suspect threaten the Quincy man.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
