This following was submitted by Plymouth and South Shore Association of REALTORS:

Pembroke, MA - Members of the Plymouth and South Shore Association of REALTORS® (PASS) gathered at the Fox & Hound Restaurant recently for an informal networking event designed to bring PASS members and local legislators together.

PASS members work to build understanding and support of home ownership issues affecting constituents in communities from Quincy to Plymouth with local legislators.

REALTORS® have been working with legislators on numerous issues including increasing the number of educational hours for real estate practitioners; preventing transfer taxes in South Shore communities and developing a copper pipe theft prevention/abandoned property registry.

Vacant houses are an increasing concern in many communities. Many fall into disrepair, attract crime and create safety issues in neighborhoods. Transfer taxes pose an unfair tax burden on home buyers and sellers, and an increase in real estate educational hours will help ensure better representation for home buyers and sellers.

REALTORS® (members of the National Association of REALTORS®) adhere to higher standards than currently mandated by law, but not all real estate agents are REALTORS®. Legislators and REALTORS® working together have a profound positive impact on the South Shore.
