A Brockton man was stabbed Wednesday after arguing with a Quincy man and grabbing a bag of his marijuana, Quincy police said.

Antwon L. Brown, 35, from Quincy was arrested and charged with armed assault with intent to murder.

According to police, officers were dispatched to Quincy Medical Center at 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of a victim with several stab wounds.

Police arrived and talked to the victim briefly, who said that two males had approached him while he was at a convenience store and asked if he was from the area. When he said no, the males attacked him.

Police then spoke to a female witness, who had driven the victim to the hospital and was waiting outside. The woman, who also lived in Brockton, first denied bringing the victim to the area, but later admitted that she had brought him to a house at 30 Brockton Ave., police said.

The female eventually told police that she went into the house with the victim. The victim went to talk to the suspect, and the female heard an argument. She then saw the victim and suspect come out of an upstairs room.

According to police, the female told officers that she saw the suspect swing a knife and strike the victim. She then ran out of the house with the victim and drove him to the hospital.

Police went to the suspect’s home and spoke with him.

According to the suspect, he knew the victim, and the victim had been renting a room from him, but had since moved out.

The suspect told police that the victim had become increasingly violent as of late, and showed up on Wednesday unexpectedly. As the suspect felt threatened by the victim, the suspect grabbed a knife and went to talk to him, police said.

The suspect then told police that the victim had grabbed a bag of his marijuana. The two got in an argument, and the suspect stabbed the victim in the stomach, chest, and hit him in the head, police said.

Police said the suspect told officers where he hid the knife. A search warrant was received and the weapon was found in the house.
