Quincy police say that two vehicles are stranded on a sand bar in Squantum this morning, after they were driven onto the beach Wednesday night and couldn’t get out before the tide rolled in.

According to police, a Quincy man told police that he drove his 1990 Cadillac out to the sand bar to “think about things” at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, as he had been doing for years.

The man said he didn't realized he had driven out so far and got stuck, police said. He went to get his brother’s truck to help remove his car from the sand, but the brother’s 2004 Ford pick-up also got stuck in the sand.

Neither vehicle could be removed before the tide came back in.

As of Thursday morning, the cars were still in the water. Police said that Massachusetts Environmental Police have been notified, and the Quincy dive team will attempt to take a look at the situation.

No one has been charged in the incident.
