A Quincy woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car Wednesday evening.
According to State Trooper Thomas Murphy, the 61-year-old woman was crossing near 389 Quincy Shore Drive at 8:50 p.m. when she was struck. The driver, identified by police as 24-year-old Andrew Rabell of Saugus, was driving a 1999 Honda Civic.
Murphy said the victim was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
The case is still under investigation, and police did not have an update on the victim's condition Thursday morning.
There have been numerous pedestrian accidents in Quincy this year. Quincy police said that as of May, fewer than 30 pedestrian accidents had occurred, none of which were fatal. In 2012, 98 pedestrians were hit, four of them fatally.
In 2011, 71 pedestrians were struck, two of them fatally, and in 2010, 49 pedestrians were hit, none fatally.
