A Quincy woman was arrested on Saturday after she allegedly stole a cell phone from another woman at CVS.

According to police, the victim was at the CVS on Beal Street at around 7:30 and was in the self-checkout lane.

The woman put her purse and iPhone down and paid for her items. Once finished, the woman looked around for her phone but couldn’t locate it, police said.

The woman went home and continued to try to call the phone. She soon realized she had a GPS locator app on her phone that allows friends to look up the phone’s location.

The woman tracked the phone and pinpointed it to 54 Elliot Ave, police said.

The woman and friend went to the police station and officers sent a cruiser down to the alleged suspect’s location.

When the cruiser pulled up to the house, a woman came out of the building holding the phone.

According to police, though the suspect said she tried to locate the phone’s owner, the suspect couldn’t answer why she didn’t turn the phone over to CVS staff or why she didn’t call police.

Kathleen Brown, 46, from Quincy was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property over $250.

She was arraigned Monday in Quincy District Court.
