Transportation officials joined Congressman Ed Markey and Revere Mayor Daniel Rizzo for the dedication of the Christina and John Markey Memorial Pedestrian Bridge at Wonderland T station in Revere on Monday.

Slated to open in January, the bridge will connect pedestrian traffic from the new Wonderland Transit Center to Revere Beach.

The bridge, funded primarily though a $20 million transportation grant, is one of the final pieces of a major renovation project to update transit and parking facilities on the MBTA Blue Line.

“The new and improved Wonderland Transit Center will make an important contribution to the revitalization of Revere by attracting new economic development and providing safer access to one of the oldest public beaches in the nation,” said Peter Rogoff, head of the Federal Transit Administration.
