WriteBoston, a city initiative to foster a culture of writing in Boston schools, celebrated its fifth annual Pros & Conversation gala last week at the Boston Public Library.

Student writers from WriteBoston programs interviewed an author panel during the event that celebrated the initiative’s achievements and raised funds for program operations, according to city officials.

Throughout the year, the initiative provides writing coaching, produces the student-run Teens in Print newspaper in partnership with The Boston Globe, and operates both a summer journalism institute and the Caroline Knapp Journalism Internship, which places Boston teens in local newsrooms.
