The Massachusetts College of Art and Design will officially inaugurate its new president, Dawn Oxenaar Barrett, to the school's Fenway campus Thursday afternoon.

The school will live-stream the 3 p.m. inauguration ceremony here.

Barrett replaced long-time president Kay Sloan.

Barrett, formerly the dean of architecture and design at the Rhode Island School of Design, is the Huntington Avenue college’s 11th president and second woman to lead the school since its founding in 1873.

A native of Northampton, Barrett received a bachelor's degree in art history from the University of Massachusett, Amherst and a master's in product design from the N.C. State University.

A graphic designer by trade, the 54-year-old has served on the Board of Trustees for the Penland School of Crafts and served as head of the department of design at the Jan van Eyck Akademie in the Netherlands.

She resides in Boston with her husband, R.D.E. "Ootje" Oxenaar, and their daughters, Emily and Emma.
