Boston has hired CB Richard Ellis/Grossman Retail Advisors to help with the selection of commercial tenets for the Dudley Square Municipal Center.

The $115 million development at the former location of the Ferdinand Furniture Store on Warren Street and Washington Street in Roxbury, is expected to be completed in 2015. Five-hundred Boston Public School employees will be housed in the new building, which includes just over 18,000 square-feet of commercial space on the ground floor.

Based in Boston and founded in 2009, CBRE/GRA is a joint-venture between CB Richard Ellis – N.E. Partners, LP and Grossman Commercial Real Estate Group, according to CB Richard Ellis's website.

It will assist the city in securing “exciting” retailers for the site that will activate the street, according to a statement from the city.

“The new Dudley Square Municipal Center is an important step forward in the development of a historic neighborhood on the brink of population and economic booms,” Mayor Thomas M. Menino said in a statement. “Bringing an experienced firm like CBRE/GRA on board ensures we include the kind of stores and restaurants that will further grow and enhance Dudley Square.”

CBRE/GRA will be paid $50,000 for its work with the Public Facilities Department from July 2013 to February 2014, according to the Boston Redevelopment Authority.

The city will also use BRA commissioned surveys that quantify buying and spending habits in the area, to help make the selections.

Four agencies, including CBRE/GRA, submitted bids to the Public Facilities Department for the project, according to the city.
