For the second time, Suffolk Construction will host its Subcontractor Development Series, which aims to foster relationships between the construction company and minority and women-owned trade subcontractor firms.

The free program includes eight sessions and the deadline to apply is August 3, with just 30 slots available.

Offered to both union and non-union subcontractors, applicants must be certified by the Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, Minority Business Enterprise, or Women Owned Business Enterprise. Firms must also have been in business for a minimum of two years.

“We take great pride in creating equal access and opportunity for quality-driven, experienced subcontractors on all of our projects,” Brian McPherson, director of diversity and workforce compliance at Suffolk Construction, said in a statement. “For our 2012 Subcontractor Development Series, we awarded 35 projects totaling more than $25 million to DBE, MBE, and WBE subcontractors who successfully completed the program, and we look forward to continuing to build effective partnerships with the return of this year’s series.”

Participants can expect to learn about Suffolk’s management procedures and process as well as its project management tools.

Each session will be held on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and attendance for all eight sessions is mandatory.

More information about the program and how to apply can be found here.
