SALEM, MA –The Salem Jazz and Soul Festival /Berklee College Summer Series continues with another fine concert on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Derby Square in downtown Salem, MA.

Hailey Niswanger is studying jazz performance on a full scholarship at Berklee College. She has an impressive list of accomplishments and has shared the stage with DeeDee Bridgewater, George Duke, Christian McBride, McCoy Tyner, Wynton Marsalis, Mark Whitfield and other jazz greats. Hailey leads her own quartet that has performed at the Portland Jazz Festival, Mt. Hood Jazz Festival and other jazz venues.  In September, 2009 Hailey was selected as the new alto saxophonist in the internationally acclaimed big band the Either/Orchestra.

Held in partnership between Berklee College of Music and the Salem Jazz and Soul Festival, concerts lead up to the annual Salem Jazz and Soul Festival that will be held on Aug. 20 – 21 at the Salem Willows.  Strutting a New Orleans funk and jazz feel, this year’s line up features Bonerama, Charles Neville & Harvey Diamond Quartet, Nicky Egan, The Bobby Keyes Trio and the Salem High School Jazz Band, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Club d’Elf, Thaddeus Hogarth, Goldberg, and  Miksis & Langone with special guest, Scott Aruda on trumpet.
