After being docked for the last two days due to dismal weather, the Salem Ferry is back on schedule today for tonight’s big Halloween finale in the Witch City.

“It’s really good news for us, and to have a nice day like this as well,” said Missy Walker of Boston’s Best Cruises, which runs the Salem Ferry. “We are very much a business that’s impacted by the weather, so it’s very challenging.

“There are times weather turns out to be better than forecasted. When we actually have justifiable weather related closures it still isn’t great.”

On Saturday the ferry from Salem to Boston at 1 p.m. was the last trip of the day before operations shut down. For ferry schedules and tickets click here.

Walker said several of their trips had been sold out for the last few weekends.

“At 150 [customers] per trips, selling out three or four tips, there’s 600 guests right there [we missed out on this weekend],” she said. “That’s a lot of people.”

She didn’t expect to see as many people on the boat today.

“I think because it’s a weekday you won’t see the same type of attention as we had Saturday or Sunday,” she said.

But police are preparing for as many as 100,000 people in Salem tonight and the aftermath of Saturday’s snowstorm will not put a cramp in trick-or-treating in Salem.

The Salem Police have set the trick-or-treating hours for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Children should only trick-or-treat during those hours, and residents who welcome trick-or-treaters should leave on their porch lights.

There will also be trick-or-treating at Pioneer village from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The City of Salem has also released the advisory about events, transportation and safety or anyone attending  Halloween night festivities:
