Salem resident Scott Connolly has been named one of the American Diabetes Association's Fathers of the Year.
Connolly, the athletic director and head football coach at Salem High School, Eric A. Kraus of Walpole, Frederick A. Kramer of Ashland, and Mark J. McKenna of Wellesley, will be honored at an event on June 12 at the Seaport World Trade Center.
They were chosen by the American Diabetes Association - in partnership with the National Father's Day Council - for success in their chosen fields or endeavors, the ability to teach and mature their children, creating good citizens and proud members of the community out of them, and the outstanding strength, commitment and love they exhibit as fathers.
Diabetes affects nearly 26 million children and adults nationwide. The mission of the American Diabetes Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
Since the Boston Father of the Year event began in 2006, more than $1 million has been raised to help fund essential advocacy, education and research initiatives.
