Salem Heritage Days festival kicks off this week

The Salem heritage Days festival kicks off this week and runs through August 12 with events and activities for all ages scheduled throughout the city.

This week, six events are scheduled, beginning on Wednesday afternoon. For more information visit salem.org or the city of Salem official website.

Story Time at the House of Seven Gables

Wednesday, August 1, 1 - 4 p.m.

Children 7 and under can enjoy an assortment of new and classical stories at the House of Seven Gables.

Comedy Night at the Moose Club

Wednesday, August 1, 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. at the Salem Moose Lodge, 50 Grove Street.

Featuring the comedy of Paul D'Angelo and Artie Januario, with a cash bar, raffles, and food available for purchase. For tickets ($10/donation per ticket) call or visit the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem, at 13 Hawthorne Boulevard (978-744-0915), or the Park, Recreation & Community Services Department at 5 Broad Street (978-744-0180). Tickets may also be purchased at the door. This is a 21+ event.

Lawn Games at the House of Seven Gables

Thursday, August 2, 1 - 4 p.m. at the House of Seven Gables.

Enjoy free 17th century games on the beautiful seaside lawn at the House of Seven Gables.

Movie on the Common

Thursday, August 2, 8:30 - 10 p.m. on Salem Common.

Bring popcorn, a blanket or a chair and enjoy a free screening of Rookie of the Year. The Salem Common Neighborhood Association will be selling snacks. Contact the Parks & Recreation Deptartment at 978-744-0180 for more info.

Lace Making at the House of Seven Gables

Friday, August 3, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the House of Seven Gables.

Come watch the lost art of lace making for free in the Hooper Hathaway Great Room.

Quilt Show at Wesley United Methodist Church

Friday, August 3, 6 - 8 p.m. at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 8 North Street.

Come view hundreds of beautifully crafted quilts. There will be vendors, a silent auction, and food and beverages available. Rain or Shine. Admission is $5 (to benefit the Church Building Fund). For more info email info@salemwesley.org.
