The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Sunday and Monday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Sunday, August 19:
4 p.m. Police responded to a report of a suspicious male looking into cars on Canal Street. The man was found in the Dollar Store parking lot and observed loitering for several minutes. He was found to be negative for warrants and was sent on his way. No evidence of criminal activity.
4:24 p.m. Police responded to a report of a hypodermic needle on the beach on Collins Street. Unable to locate.
5:49 p.m. Police responded to a neighbor dispute on Fort Avenue.
10:52 p.m. Police responded to a fight on Loring Avenue. Both parties were advised that they could seek charges in district court. Simple assault by both parties.
Monday, August 20:
9:28 a.m. Police took a report of a past purse snatching on Essex Street yesterday at 4 p.m. Female party reported that she was visiting the Bewitched Statue when three Hispanic males surrounded her, and one with a red cap on had a pair of scissors and cut her purse of her shoulder. She stated she fell to the ground. Also stated was upset about her mother's death, so she didn't bother reporting yesterday. She described the males as light-skinned and between 13-15 years old, all had on blue jeans and hats but she could only recall the red hat. Several people around yelled for them to stop but they fled the area.
9:40 a.m. A woman reported that someone stole $400 out of a sneaker that was in her closet. She stated the money was there last night, now it's gone. It may have been one of her son's friends. The sneakers were taken for possible fingerprinting.
12:34 p.m. A man cleaning out a property he owns on Boston Street found a parking meter in the cellar. The home has been sold and he provided the name of the last tenant.
Gary Ulloa-Valdez, of 50 Park Street, Lawrence, was arrested on the basis of a warrant.
Gary Dean Woodbury, homeless, was arrested for assault and battery.
Bernard Farrell IV, of 10100 Metric Boulevard, Austin, TX, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without being licensed.
Jose Figueroa, of 83 Linwood Street, Lynn, was arrested for OUI and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
Eric R. Hooper, of 98 North Street, was arrested for assault and battery.
Laurie Eto Santos, of 290 Washington Street, was arrested on the basis of a warrant.
Russell Alberto Santos, of 64 Palmer Street, was arrested for assault and battery, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, intimidation of a witness, and a warrant.
