It's time to revisit the fantastic decade of teased hair, leg warmers, and neon leggings at the biggest dance party fundraising event of the year, the 80's Dance Party.
This 'like totally hip' event takes place Thursday from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Salem Waterfront Hotel.
"This is our first year putting on an 80's themed event," said Salem Main Streets organizer Jennifer Bell. "The 80's Dance Party is a fun way for people to support Salem Main Streets while dressing up in colorful and wacky 80's attire and dancing to popular hits of the decade."
Costumes are optional but there will be a prize for the best 80's outfit, as well as raffles and a cash bar. There will be free appetizers, and 80's music will be provided by the popular Sound City Entertainment.
Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, and can be purchased in person at the Salem Chamber of Commerce at 265 Essex Street or Eastern Bank at 125 Washington Street. Tickets can also be reserved by calling 978-744-0004.
Proceeds will go towards Salem Main Streets, a non-profit organization with the goal of revitalizing downtown Salem as a vibrant year-round retail, dining, and cultural destination. Other Salem Main Streets events include the Salem Farmers' Market, Salem Winter Farmers' Market, Salem Arts Festival, Salem's So Sweet, and the Ice Scream Bowl.
