The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Tuesday and Wednesday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Tuesday, Sept. 25
4:45 p.m. Police responded to the Dunkin Donuts on Paradise Road on a report of an undesirable female who kept entering the store barefoot. Party in question told police that while at the beach in Swampscott someone stole all of her belongings including her shoes.
6:48 p.m. Police responded to a report of burglary at a residence on Porter Street.
7:51 p.m. Police responded to a report of a past break-in at a residence on Herbert Street.
Wednesday, Sept. 26
3:09 a.m. While on patrol, officers observed a male standing in the shadows behind the McDonald's on Canal Street. The man was dressed in a black hoody, and when approached was found to be holding a salt packet in one hand and sugar packet in the other. When asked why he was in the area, he stated that he was eating salt and sugar. A pat frisk for weapons and a warrant check were both negative. Checks of the business showed no issues. He was sent on his way without incidence.
12:36 p.m. Police responded to a report of a fire on Berrywood Lane. Two parties arrived home to find the first floor full of smoke. Salem fire arrived and found the toaster oven on with food in it. They were able to stop the smoke without a full fire being ignited. Units cleared shortly after.
2:09 p.m. Police responded to a hit and run on Sewall Street.
3:25 p.m. Cars on Margin Street were towed due to street sweeping.
Kelly Marie Sharac, of 164 Prospect Street, Gloucester, will be charged with OUI-drugs, illegal possession of a Class B substance, and driving with a suspended license.
Kelley E. Damon, of 214 Lafayette Street, will be charged with driving with a revoked license, illegal possession of a Class B substance, and a red light or stop sign violation.
Robert A. Frost, of 50 Echo Avenue, Beverly, will be charged with violating the city knife ordinance.
Matthew T. Hames, of 1A MacArthur Circle, Peabody, was arrested on the basis of three warrants.
