The following was submitted by Salem Theatre Company:

Salem Theatre Company opens their Tenth Anniversary Season with Yasmina Reza’s Tony Award winning ART at the STC Theater for 15 performances September 20 through October 13.

Winner of the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play, 'ART' revolves around three friends who tangle over the merits of an all-white painting that one of them has purchased for a tidy sum. What begins as a polite discussion of personal taste rapidly devolves into all-out war as the guys relentlessly batter each other over their various foibles and failures.

The London Independent wrote, "…anyone looking for a play that is funny, sophisticated, stylish, stimulating and moving should go to ART." Newsweek wrote  "…a nonstop cross-fire of crackling language, serious issues of life and art expressed in outbursts that sound like Don Rickles with a degree from the Sorbonne…”

Guest director Eve Summer of Arlington will helm the production.

Featured in the cast are Stephen Cooper of Marblehead, Neil Kutzen of Wakefield, and David Perkinson of Salem. Emma Cavaliere of Salem serves as Production Stage Manager, and Scenic Design is by Ron Dion of Weymouth. Marbleheaders Greg Mancusi-Ungaro, Jean Fogle and John Fogle will design lighting, costumes and sound respectively.

Salem Theatre Company offers two “Name Your Own Ticket Price” preview performances on Thursday, September 20 and Friday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. “We have heard some people say they feel guilty about naming their own ticket price,” says Gary LaParl, Managing Director for the company. “They shouldn’t!  We want to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy our Main Stage productions no matter what!”

The production opens on Saturday September 22 and runs through October 13 on Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. at the STC Theater, 90 Lafayette Street, Salem.

Tickets are $25 for Adults, $20 for Seniors and $10 for Students and are available online at www.salemtheatre.com or can be reserved for pick up at the box office by calling 978-790-8546 or emailing info@salemtheatre.com. Online ticketing ends 24 hours in advance of each performance.
