October is breast cancer awareness month, and Salem High School is doing its part with a benefit volleyball game this weekend.

The girls' JV and varsity volleyball teams will host Beverly, with the JV team taking the floor at 5 p.m. on Friday night, and the varsity squad following at 6:30.

The school does not charge for admission to volleyball games, but voluntary donations to benefit Dig Pink will be taken at the game, and fans can show show their support for the Lady Witches by wearing red, white and pink.

"They would love to see a lot of support," said Kimberly Barzola, student representative to the School Committee

The school will also hold a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1p.m. on October 19 in the auditorium. Anyone interested in donating blood can make an appointment with Allyson Bachta at allysonbachta@salemk12.org.
