Salem police log, Oct. 1-2

The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Monday and Tuesday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:

Monday, Oct. 1

4:06 p.m. Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a bicycle at the corner of Dearborn and North Street. The driver stated he had just stopped at the stop sign on Dearborn Street and was rolling up to the corner when two males on a bike came off the sidewalk and hit the front fender of his Ford Ranger. The driver of the bike stated the same, and his friend who was sitting on the center bar of the bike fell to the ground. The male who was sitting on the handlebars was transported to North Shore Medical Center.

4:27 p.m. Police responded to a report of someone banging on a door, possible attempted breaking and entering, to an apartment on First Street.

7:54 p.m. Police responded to a report of an egged vehicle on Liberty Hill Avenue.

Tuesday, Oct. 2

8:07 a.m. Police responded to a report of a homeless man living in a tent in the woods off of Federal Street. The property is owned by a private company. Police found paperwork in the tent with the man's name on it, he will attempt to contact him and have him move the tent off of the property.

10:42 a.m. Police responded to a past hit-and-run on Washington Street.

11:59 a.m. Police responded to a drunk in a doorway on Lafayette Street. Police found a man passed out in the doorway and asked him to walk. He couldn't walk without assistance, and he was placed into protective custody.

2:58 p.m. Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. Police found a woman leaning on a street sign, she refused medical treatment. Two witnesses told police that a car did stop for the woman to cross Federal Street, but as she was crossing, the car turned onto Washington Street and hit her. The victim stated the same. A citation was issued to the driver.

Arrests:

Blanca DeLeon, of 29A Mall Street, Lynn, will be charged with driving without a license, and speeding.

Michael R. Douglas, of 19 Rainbow Terrace, will be charged with assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Ginnette Garcia, of 74 Rainbow Terrace, will be charged with driving with a suspended license, red light or stop sign violation, and driving without a registration.

Nathan Adam Simpson, of 12 Powellton Road, Dorchester, will be charged driving with a revoked license, and failure to keep left when passing.
