The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Monday and Tuesday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Monday, Oct. 22
4:55 p.m. Police founded a milk crate in the middle of Highland Avenue that contained some tools.
5:22 p.m. The community impact unit has been monitoring the activity at 149 Federal Street after an initial complaint on September 24. Since then, police have responded to this address a number of times resulting in the issuance of city ordinance violations and criminal complaints against the tenants, who are Salem State students. The university will be notified, and the property owners will be notified that the property has been classified as a disorderly house.
5:25 p.m. Police responded to a report of a stolen bicycle on Randall Street.
6:33 p.m. Police responded to a report of parties throwing items at vehicles on Orne Street. Clear, checked area, unable to locate.
10:51 p.m. Due to the number of calls for police service at 5 Hazel Street, the residents and property owner have been issued a keeper of a disorderly house notification.
Tuesday, Oct. 23
9:13 a.m. A female party came to the station to report that she is getting threatening phone calls from a blocked number, and the male on the line says he is watching her and is going to get her when she is walking to school. She believes the caller is a black male named "Isse" from Beverly, but does not know his real name or where he lives. Advised to call police if she sees anyone following or watching her.
12:21 p.m. A woman reported that she fell into a pothole on Lynde Street.
12:37 p.m. Police responded to a report of stolen copper trim and gutters from a property on Grove Street.
Jason Baez, of 3 Beach Road, Lynn, will be charged with larceny over $250, larceny from a person, threatening to commit a crime, and disorderly conduct.
Jakari N. Griffith, of 2 Woodbury Court, will be charged with domestic assault and battery and attempted murder.
Editor's Note: According to Salem District Court documents, the charge of domestic assault and battery was dismissed on Jan. 13, 2013. Prosecutors dropped the charge of attempted murder as well.
Tracie E. Devito, of 133 Western Avenue, Lynn, was arrested on the basis of a warrant.
Jesse Paul Silva, of 60 Fulton Street, Peabody, will be charged with driving with a suspended license, driving negligently to endanger, passing where prohibited, speed greater than reasonable, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving an uninsured vehicle.
