Salem and Beverly residents can safely dispose of hazardous waste for $20 per carload on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at Salem High School.
Items that will be accepted include paint supplies - varnishes, oil-based paints, solvent adhesives, etc. - cleaning supplies, yard-care supplies such as insecticides, fungicides and chemical fertilizers, and all kinds of items found in garages (motor oil, antifreeze, and other miscellaneous car products).
Latex paint, medical or biological waste, yard waste, ammunition, fireworks, and explosives will not be accepted. A complete list of what is accepted and what is not can be found here.
Proof of residency must be provided, and Beverly residents are welcome to participate. Salem residents will have access to Beverly's spring hazardous waste day.
