It appears that whoever is responsible for the recent burglary of a home on Orchard Street in Salem took a hint from Goldilocks and decided to have a quick bite while sneaking around someone's home.
According to the Salem police daily activity log for Wednesday, an officer responded to the address in North Salem just after 4 p.m. and spoke with a resident who related that an unknown person or persons entered his home through the bulkhead sometime between Sunday afternoon and Wednesday.
"Once inside it appears that the unknown person(s) made themselves a meal," the responding officer wrote in his report. "Food left on table and dirty pots/pans left in kitchen sink."
The officer only detailed two items taken from the home: a black trench coat valued at approximately $50, and the victim's son's 26-inch specialized Hotrock gray mountain bike valued between $300 and $500, which was in a shed in the backyard.
