This week in Salem, November 27-30
The week in Salem takes a decidedly holiday-themed turn near the end, just in time for December.
While a number of non-holiday events that began this month continue running, such as the Salem State Art and Design Faculty Exhibition, the Artist Friends and Neighbors at the Kensington-Stobart Gallery at Hawthorne Hotel, and as always, the Salem Farmers' Market, a number of holiday events are starting to creep into Salem's events calendar.
Help bring some holiday cheer to downtown Salem, check out some of the events listed below, and don't forget to take a look when the sun sets at the city Christmas tree fully lit in all of it's glory.

Salem State Art and Design Faculty Exhibition
Tuesday through Friday , 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Winfisky Gallery in the Ellison Campus Center (352 Lafayette Street).
The finale of the fall semester is a much-anticipated annual event showcasing the work of faculty from within Salem State's nationally accredited department of art and design. Works by both full- and part-time studio faculty in printmaking, painting, glass, design, sculpture, photography and various other media are exhibited.
Artist Friends and Neighbors at the Kensington-Stobart Gallery
Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Hawthorne Hotel (18 Washington Square West).
An exhibition of work by Salem artists who are connected by neighborhood affiliation, personal relationships or both. Participating artists include Charlie Allen, Katy Bratun, David Decker, Julie Shaw Lutts, Barbara Burgess Maier, Trip Mason, and Racket Shreve. Artist Friends and Neighbors Gallery Talk

PEM Pals
Wednesday, Nov. 28, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Peabody Essex Museum (161 Essex Street).
A fun, interactive program with books, movement, music, art and hands-on activities, designed specifically for preschoolers and their caregivers. Drop in and meet at information desk. For families with children up to age 5.
Harbor Sweets Open House
Thursday, Nov. 29, and Friday, Nov. 30, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Harbor Sweets (85 Leavitt Street).

Salem Trolley presents "A Christmas Carol"
Thursday, Nov. 29, and Friday, Nov. 30, at Salemdipity (86 Wharf Street).
This humorous and whimsical interactive performance reanimates Charles Dickens' timeless holiday classic. This wildly popular event is in its 26th year and all weekend shows are already sold out! This week, tickets remain available for 6 and 7 p.m. on Thursday, and 6 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased online at salemtrolley.com.
Craig Lucas' "RECKLESS" at Salem Theatre

The show surrounds a seedy nightclub in Berlin as the 1920s are drawing to a close. The master of ceremonies promises us a powerful distraction from the outside world. For mature audiences only.
