Salem police are investigating the armed robbery of Georgia's Pizza on Norman Street by a knife-wielding man around 9 p.m. Sunday night.

Investigators are looking for the suspect who went into the pizza shop, well-disguised and brandishing a large butcher knife, and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Lt. Marc Berube. No injuries were reported.

Police say the suspect, described as a skinny white male standing about 5-feet, 10-inches tall, entered the store about an hour before closing time dressed in a black jacket with a ski mask and shiny glasses with a purple tint, and walked behind the counter demanding cash.

"He pointed the knife towards the victim in a threatening manner," Berube said. "The victim did unlock the cash machine and opened the drawer. The male suspect grabbed the cash drawer, put it on the floor, grabbed the big bills...then got away with an undisclosed amount of cash."

No further information was available, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Salem police at 978-744-0171.
