The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Monday and Tuesday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Monday, December 10
4:20 p.m. Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run on Marlborough Road.
6:44 p.m. Police responded to a report of a suspicious party in an alley in the area of Lynde Street and Sewall Street.
7:50 p.m. Police responded to a report of a group seen near a small fire on Canal Street.
8:59 p.m. A wallet was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Hancock Street.
10:35 p.m. Police responded to a report of a coyote in the area of Lee Fort Terrace. Unable to locate.
11:16 p.m. Police responded to a report of a vehicle fire at Washington Square North. Fire extinguished by fire department.
Tuesday, December 11
8:57 a.m. Police met with the foreman for the former St. Joe's Church project on Lafayette Street. He states that on off-hours and weekends parties are entering the work site. He has found used needles on the property and mattresses in the chapel. He was advised extra checks of the property will be made.
11:19 a.m. A highly intoxicated party inside Salem Laundry on Lafayette Street was taken into protective custody and also issued a no trespass order.
George A. Hindsley, of 164 Whalers Lane, will be charged with assault, possession of a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of large capacity firearm, unlawful storage of a firearm.
Scott R. Hooper, of 14 Wheatland Street, will be charged with malicious destruction of property over $250.
Josue Sanchez, of 419 Broadway, Lynn, will be charged with assault and battery, aggravated assault, unarmed robbery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Richard T. Brown Jr., of 27 Salem Street, will be charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise.
Melissa Jane Cote, of 14 Gardner Street, was arrested on the basis of a warrant.
Kaity Kartalias-Brown, of 27 Salem Street, will be charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise.
Phillip Spagnuolo, of 282 North Street, Weymouth, was arrested on the basis of a warrant.
