The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Wednesday and Thursday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:
Wednesday, December 12
4:20 p.m. Police responded to a report of heavy smoke at the East India Mall. Smoke was coming from the Village Tavern loading dock area and traveled through the mall. No fire. Fire department to handle.
4:51 p.m. Police responded to a report of a fight on Olde Village Drive. Area searched, parties left prior to arrival. Unable to locate anyone fighting.
5:16 p.m. Police took a report of fraud. Victim stated that he located motorcycle rims on Craigslist and sent $550 to the "seller," then lost contact.
6:05 p.m. Police responded to Salem Fitness on Swampscott Road on a report of a break-in to a vehicle.
6:30 p.m. A purse was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle while it was parked at "It's Raining Pets" on Bridge Street with the purse on the passenger seat.
7:13 p.m. Police responded to a report of a past hit-and-run on Traders Way.
Thursday, December 13
11:03 a.m. Police responded to Church Street on a report of a party checking motor vehicle doors.
11:09 a.m. Police assisted the fire department on Boston Street at Hanson Street where someone pulled a fire box.
11:35 a.m. Police took a report of a past break-in of a vehicle parked on Traders Way.
Cristina M. Colon, of 52 Dow Street, will be charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding greater than posted.
