Salem police log, Dec. 5-6

The following was taken from the Salem Police Department logs for Wednesday and Thursday. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law:

Wednesday, December 5

4:51 p.m. Police responded to Read Street after multiple 911 hang-ups. The resident thought she had called 411 and kept hitting redial.

6:20 p.m. Party came into the station to report that sometime between 6 p.m. and midnight last night someone slashed the tires on his 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix while it was parked on Bridge Street.

8:07 p.m. Police responded to a report of simple assault on Highland Avenue.

10:28 p.m. Police responded to the Taco Bell on Highland Avenue on a report of larceny, Spoke with a manager who stated that a cash drawer was short $100. He reviewed the surveillance video and observed an employee reach into the cash box and take the $100 bill that is missing. Investigation to continue.

Thursday, December 6

3:57 a.m. Police found two parties in a parked car in the area of Endicott Street at Summer Street to be in possession of a small amount marijuana and paraphernalia. The items were confiscated and both parties were checked for warrants, of which they were negative. Parties were sent on their way.

9:14 a.m. A snowplow belonging to the Peabody Essex Museum was reported stolen from Charter Street. It was not attached to a vehicle.

11:57 a.m. Party reported that he believes someone cut the fuel line to his vehicle parked on Heritage Drive.

12:28 p.m. Police responded to Mason Street on a report of a past hit-and-run that occurred at Access Star.

2:59 p.m. Police took a report of possible identity theft.
